INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 1. Mount Star Wars - Racer on a virtual drive (DO NOT INSTALL IT!) 2. After mounting SW-R, run the "graphics patch" this small program will help you install the game and run it on modern computers. 3. Play! IMPORTANT NOTE! Do not mount the game on a different drive then the one you have installed it from, otherwise the game won't run and it will keep asking you for the CD. WORKS ON WINDOWS 7 & 8! Enjoy & Seed!

The only thing that isn't working at least for me is the video cutscenes, there's only sound and a black screen, but other than that, everything else seems to work perfectly on my modern win 7 machine. I really missed this game and have never been able to get it to work until now, so thank you so much for the upload!
Your welcome. Did you install the game with the above instructions? Installing the game in regular way instead with the graphics patch will let you end up with a black or white screen when you start the game. The graphics patch is not just an installer for newer operating systems but also includes a new exe that will render the game playeble on XP/7/8.
If you have an AMD Card you can try and install AMD Catalyst 11.12 and see if that improves anything. (apparently when it comes to older video games like this one , Jedi Outcast/Academy and Wolfenstein only work on Catalyst 11.12.)

Yes, I just mounted the ISO and only ran the graphics patch. Everything works great, the black screen only shows up when it's supposed to show a cutscene (the intro movies and the planet intros before each race) but the sound plays normally. I do have an AMD card so I will see about that Catalyst, but I have Jedi Academy and it plays flawlessly (though it is the Steam version so maybe they optimised it for newer machines somehow)
Valve has always improved the compatibility and bugfixes of the games they got the license to distribute on steam, same as GOG, that way they sell more copies if they're games run on a multitude of operating systems.
As for planet intros before each race, if they don't work with Radeon 11.12, i think you can only get the intros if you run the game on Win98 or XP (downgrade or running on a virtual machine) unfortunately.
BTW
The planet intro/cutscenes are the same on every track from the same category on every difficulty level, so you're not missing much, they're awfully boring anyways.
But you can always watch them on YouTube. The most important thing is that the game works without any issues.

I played this game many times years ago and I still remember all the cutscenes so I'm not missing anything, but thanks anyway. What matters is that everything else works with no issues at all and I'm not gonna bother with it, just gonna have fun speeding around.
Excellent it works fine on windows 7 64bits, nvidia 660ti.
thanks
thanks
It hangs when I start it on Win 7. Black screen with hourglass cursor ALT-F4 doesn't work, only terminating the process in the task manager.
After that I tried running Racer.exe and started it that way, same thing. Configuring options did the same thing too.
